remember when i thought an offline installer was a good idea?
a pre-built squashfs that still needed internet to install DEs?
"offline" in name only. it was a lie. a beautiful, naive lie.
so i killed it. ripped out the mode picker, the connectivity check,
the whole AskMode() circus. calamares-next now just shows a notice
saying "yeah that wasnt actually offline" and launches directly
into online mode. no more pretending.
also fixed the QML nav button because having a greyed out "Next"
on the last page is terrible UX. now it says "Done" and quits.
youre welcome.
and since we nuked the offline mode, might as well make the
online mode look fucking spectacular. enter antergos-layan-theme:
- kvantum theme because your apps deserve better than qt dreck
- sddm theme (AntergosDark-Layan) for a sexy login screen
- every plasma plasmoid from the rice (panel colorizer, netspeed,
shutdown switch, applets, separators, music toolbar, the works)
- yakuake arc-dark skin
- antergos logos in /usr/share/logos and /usr/share/pixmaps
- konsole profile, desktop appletsrc, all that jazz
- kde_settings.conf now points to AntergosDark-Layan sddm theme
also replaced the old antergos-grub-theme with the Layan grub
theme because the old one was a git-sourced abomination. 75 distro
icons, terminal box, selection widgets, antergos wallpaper.
ships to /usr/share/grub/themes/antergos/ so calamares finds it.
oh and a dozen audit fixes:
- kscreenlockerrc wallpaper path fixed
- kdialogrc no longer says some other distro
- 7 stale knsregistry files deleted (dev machine was leaking)
- systemd-inhibit guarded with command -v (dinit doesnt have it)
- plasma restart uses killall not systemctl --user
- "XeroLinux Toolkit" -> "Antergos Toolkit" in appletsrc
- KDE_SESSION_VERSION=5 -> =6 (its 2026)
- mirrorlist script says Artix not Arch
- SDDM Messages.sh removed from build artifacts
Online installs don't get root-overlay files, so the antergos-logo
at hicolor icon theme paths (/usr/share/icons/hicolor/{128,256}x{128,256}/apps/
and /usr/share/pixmaps/) was missing on online-installed systems.
Add transparent logo PNGs at proper sizes to the wallpapers package,
which is already included in the online netinstall group.
Bump pkgrel to 7.
Fork pipewire 1:1.6.7-1 from Artix world repo with a patched
artix-pipewire-launcher that sets SUPPORT='YES' for dinit.
Previously the launcher treated dinit as unsupported (alongside
openrc), which broke XDG autostart of pipewire.desktop on
dinit-based systems. Users were told to use dinitctl instead.
This patch enables direct XDG autostart on dinit by changing:
dinit|openrc) SUPPORT='' ;;
to:
openrc) SUPPORT='' ;;
dinit|runit|s6) SUPPORT='YES' ;;
Add pipewire to packages.yaml so CI picks it up.
The minimal-info.qml file existed in the package directory but was
never listed in the source array or copied in package(), so the
notesqml module couldn't find it and failed to load.
The gtk-color-scheme was using light variant colors (bg:#eeeeee,
base:#ffffff, fg:#555555) which bled into Qt apps via the gtk2
platform theme, causing Calamares to render with light backgrounds
despite the QSS stylesheet. Switched all colors to dark variant
(bg:#444444, base:#333333, fg:#dddddd, text:#eeeeee).
Previous QSS only styled QMainWindow, QPushButton, QComboBox, QLineEdit,
and QProgressBar. Unstyled widgets (QListView, QTreeView, QGroupBox,
QRadioButton, QCheckBox, QScrollBar, QTabWidget, QHeaderView, etc.)
rendered with white backgrounds from the default Qt theme, making text
invisible in the Xfce live environment (no Plasma/Breeze dark).
New QSS covers every widget Calamares uses, with dark backgrounds
(#20252B / #262C34 / #2C3138) and Antergos blue (#4A9EFF) accents.
Introduces a lightweight Xfce-based variant of Antergos NeXT to work
around the 2 GB GitHub Releases limit for the full Plasma ISO.
New packages in antergos-packages:
- calamares-branding-antergos-next-minimal: Calamares branding variant
that says "Minimal (Xfce)" with a notesqml page explaining why this
edition exists (Plasma ISO exceeded GitHub's 2 GB limit).
- antergos-xfce-theme: GTK 2.0/3.0/3.20 + xfwm4 theme based on Numix,
recolored to Antergos brand accent (#4A9EFF). Includes xfce-notify-4.0,
metacity-1, openbox-3, and unity support directories.
packages.yaml updated with both new packages in the build list.
The dinit service had command=/usr/bin/artix-live but the base
package renames the binary to /usr/bin/antergos-live. Now sed fixes
the path reference in the service file before the rename.
Adds package_antergos-live-dinit() so the dinit live environment uses
antergos-branded init scripts (with install_dinit make target, renaming
artix-live to antergos-live like the openrc variant does).
pkgrel bumped to 3.
- Look-and-feel defaults reference AntergosNeXT.colors (the file that
actually exists in /usr/share/color-schemes/)
- kdeglobals in desktop-settings also fixed to match
- Fix plasmarc install path (no trailing slash) so file is named
correctly
This commit represents a major branding push for Antergos NeXT, adding
complete Plasma theming, fixing the SDDM login screen, expanding the
wallpaper collection, and removing inappropriate content.
NEW PACKAGES:
- antergos-plasma-theme: Complete KDE Plasma desktop theme suite
(pkgrel=1). Contains:
* antergos-dark/colors — full color scheme with Antergos brand blue
(#2EA3F2) accent on dark (#232629) background, ported from Artix
dark theme and fully rebranded
* antergos-dark/metadata.json — theme metadata
* antergos-dark/plasmarc — configures default wallpaper
(antergos-wallpaper), contrast effect, and adaptive transparency
* antergos-dark/icons/start.svgz — custom start menu button icon
using the Antergos logo (blue circle + geometric mark). KDE Plasma
loads the start menu icon from the theme's own icons/ directory
(the 'default' theme provides fallbacks like start.svgz for all
themes; any theme can override by placing its own start.svgz in its
icons/ dir). This is the canonical way to set a distro-specific
start button icon — NOT via the Freedesktop icon theme
(start-here-*) or plasmarc [Icons] settings, which only affect
system tray icons and KCM previews respectively. Source SVG from
EliverLara/candy-icons (GPL-3.0).
* antergosdark.desktop/ — look-and-feel package with:
- contents/defaults — presets for color scheme, widget style, icons
- contents/layouts/org.kde.plasma.desktop-layout.js — default panel
layout with kickoff, pager, task manager, system tray, clock
- contents/splash/Splash.qml — text-based splash screen showing
'Antergos' + 'NeXT' with progress bar (no external image deps)
- antergos-sddm-theme: Rebuilt SDDM login manager theme from scratch
(pkgrel=1). Fixes critical layout bugs in the Artix-origin theme:
* Session and layout combo boxes moved to a separate bottom bar
(anchored to parent.bottom) so they don't overlap the login card
* Dropdown lists open UPWARD (anchors.bottom: container.top) to
prevent overlapping other controls and the login form
* Arrow icons (angle-up.png) flipped to point correct direction for
upward-opening dropdowns
* Built-in background.png (1920x1080 dark gradient) eliminates
dependency on external wallpaper packages at SDDM time
* Fixed deprecated QML Connections syntax
(onCurrentLayoutChanged -> function onCurrentLayoutChanged())
* theme.conf references local background.png
* metadata.desktop with Antergos NeXT branding
* Components: custom ComboBox.qml (upward dropdown with transparent
arrow default), LayoutBox.qml (keyboard layout selector), qmldir
(module definition)
UPDATED PACKAGES:
- antergos-next-desktop-settings (pkgrel 1->2):
* Added Antergos-dark-qt5.conf — Qt5ct color scheme config so Qt5
applications inherit the dark theme colors
* Added Antergos-dark-qt6.conf — Qt6ct color scheme config for Qt6
application compatibility
* Enhanced kdeglobals with complete color sections:
- [General]: ColorScheme=AntergosDark, font=Roboto,11,-1,5,50,0,0
- [Icons]: Theme=breeze-dark
- [KDE]: widgetStyle=Breeze, LookAndFeelPackage=antergosdark.desktop
- [Colors:Button], [Colors:Selection], [Colors:View],
[Colors:Window] with full fg/bg/alt/decoration values
* Updated plasma-override to reference antergos-dark theme
- antergos-wallpapers (pkgrel 5->6):
* Added antergos-darkest-hour.jpg — 'Darkest Hour' wallpaper from KDE
Plasma 5.14 collection (GPL-2+, artist Risto Saukonpaa). Dark blue
moody landscape at 2560x1600 with ~30% average brightness, ideal
for dark-themed desktops. Installed as a separate KDE wallpaper
entry (antergos-darkest-hour) with its own metadata.desktop so
users can select it alongside the original brand wallpaper.
* Also installed to /usr/share/backgrounds/antergos/ and
/usr/share/antergos/backgrounds/ for non-KDE wallpaper pickers.
- packages.yaml: Added entries for antergos-plasma-theme and
antergos-sddm-theme. Sorted alphabetically.
REMOVED PACKAGES:
- antergos-next-memes: Removed entirely. Contained
'its-raining-tacos.opus' — an audio meme file (It's Raining Tacos)
inappropriate for a serious distribution. Antergos NeXT aims to be a
professional-quality EndeavourOS/Artix derivative, not a joke distro.
The QML files are designed for sidebar-at-top (logo, step name,
progress bar) and navigation-at-bottom (Back/Cancel/Next buttons
in a horizontal row). branding.desc had them reversed (sidebar
at bottom, navigation on right), causing the entire chrome to
render in the wrong positions — sidebar at bottom with inverted
shadow and progress bar, navigation as a vertical strip on the
right side.
Changed: sidebar: qml,top | navigation: qml,bottom
i-feel-fantastic.opus and still-alive.opus were deleted from the
repo but still referenced in PKGBUILD source and package(), causing
CI build to fail. Keep only the existing its-raining-tacos.opus.
Without replaces=(), pacman sees the conflict with artix-release
but doesn't know to replace it, causing error code 1 during online
install when packages module tries to install packaging from
[antergos-pkgs] repo. Bump pkgrel 1 -> 2.
Slide 0 said 'A modern Arch Linux experience' - change to 'Artix Linux'
Slide 2 footer said 'Full access to Arch Linux repositories' - change to 'Artix Linux'
Bump pkgrel 19 -> 20
Add adwaita-morning.webp (CC BY-SA 3.0, Jakub Steiner / GNOME Project)
to the wallpaper pack. Default wallpaper set on first KDE login via
one-shot autostart script using plasma-apply-wallpaperimage.
Bump pkgrel 4->5.
KDE Plasma's wallpaper picker looks for wallpapers under /usr/share/wallpapers/
with a metadata.desktop file, not just /usr/share/backgrounds/. Added install
target to /usr/share/wallpapers/antergos-wallpaper/contents/images/ and
included metadata.desktop so the antergos wallpaper appears automatically in
System Settings > Wallpaper instead of requiring manual browsing.
Bumped pkgrel 4->5 to trigger rebuild.
feat: reworked package index with tailwind, sorting, category filters, package metadata
chore: remove hal package (arch-specific, not compatible with artix)
- Change CI container from archlinux:latest to artixlinux/artixlinux:base-openrc
so calamares and yad are available from Artix world repo directly
- Remove calamares from packages.yaml — no need to build it, Artix provides it
- Revert calamares PKGBUILD: put services-openrc back in skip list (unused)
- Packages now built by CI: wallpapers, yay, downgrade, keyring, mirrorlist,
desktop-settings, branding, memes, welcome, hal, grub-theme, live
- Remove services-openrc from skip list so the module is compiled in
(needed by settings.conf which calls services-openrc for OpenRC systems)
- Add calamares back to packages.yaml: needed as dependency of
calamares-branding-antergos-next, and not available in official Arch repos
(CI uses archlinux:latest container)
- Remove calamares from packages.yaml: our fork stripped services-openrc,
Artix repo provides working calamares (3.4.2-4) with openrc support
- Add antergos-grub-theme to CI: uses real Antergos background + logo
from grub2-theme-antergos repo merged with Artix UI infrastructure
- Add antergos-live to CI: fork of artix-live with s/artix/antergos branding
- Bump calamares-branding-antergos-next pkgrel 12->13: settings now call
services-openrc instead of services-systemd, show.qml drops EndeavourOS,
calamares-next.sh targets /home/antergos not /home/liveuser
